Pulp was the first of two short demos that I tend to group together. The tape's
cover consisted of a black and white image of Mary, an about-face to the angry
The End of the World tape. The songs were melodic and soft acoustic pieces. Sound
quality was also starting to get much better. This is my personal favorite of
the "early tapes." It starts with the sound of rain fading into the
song "Float Away." With a rough driving electronic beat, "I Used
To Care" adds to the overall mellow feel of the demo. My first radio airplay
came from this tape; "More In Me" was aired on a local music show in
the upstate SC on Rock 101 at around midnight on a Sunday. Not a very good time
slot but I was excited none the less.
