I'm still here...I've posted another journal update so go check it out. More news is just around the corner. Check it out: Journal

3/8/07 - Winter Journal Update
I've posted a new Journal entry. Visit the Journal page to see what has been going on over the past few months.

2/1/07 - Scattered on iTunes / Savannah, GA
My latest solo album Scattered is now available for purchase worldwide on the iTunes Music Store. If you've yet to pick up a copy here's the perfect chance to do so. Follow the links on the Music page to download the album. I've confirmed a new performance date for Saturday, June 23, 2007 at the Metro Coffeehouse in Savannah, GA. This will be my first performance in Savannah and I'm really excited about the trip. More details about the show will be posted soon.

1/8/07 - Five Years, What A Surprise...
Alex, Cliff, & Andy - 1/8/02 Five years ago today Alex Quaranta, Cliff Sutton, and myself played our first show as Remains of the Day at the Coffee Underground Theater in downtown Greenville, SC. We paid $50 to rent the room and play an hours worth of songs for a handful of family and friends. A short regional jaunt was supposed to follow the performance but a wonderfully timed snow storm kept us off the road. That night in Greenville we also released a short 5 song self-titled EP for the event. A video was also put together for the song "Stare"; a collection of footage from the 2001 recordings sessions, a solo Clemson show, and a trip to the beach. Only the original EPs released at the Coffee Underground show included this video as a bonus. So here it is for the first time in five years, enjoy!

LINK: "Stare" Video
LINK: "Simple Not To Feel" Video

Also, I took the liberty of uploading the "Simple Not To Fee" video from Blend Into Backgrounds as well. It's been sitting in the dark far too long. Also be sure to check out the Discography page; I've been doing a lot of updating. See ya.

12/21/06 - 2006 Recap / Close Your Eyes and Dream

It’s hard to believe that 2006 has come and gone so quickly. The year started out for me in the closet of a Charlotte, NC apartment laying down tracks for a new album. August rolled around and we saw a number of live performances come and go as well as the release of the retrospective compilation “Music: 1996-2005.” The closet album, now titled Scattered, was finally wrapped up and released on a rainy night in October. A few more shows followed and then 2006 concluded with a performance in Downtown Greenville, SC to a small group of the best friends I’ve ever had. I really couldn’t have hoped for anything more. 2006 was a year of true growth and I thank everyone who made it possible.

My holiday gift to everyone here is an outtake from the Scattered Closet Sessions; an experimental track titled “Close Your Eyes and Dream” that was mixed down on 1/19/06 and never touched again. This a great little nugget with a rough mix of programming, acoustic guitar, vocals, and some ambient electric guitar thrown in. I really liked the track but eventually stopped production on it because I thought it would kill the flow on the album. I was thinking “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds” when I wrote and recorded it. Merry Christmas!

FILE: Close You Eyes and Dream - 1/19/06 Demo (4 MB MP3)

So what are my plans for 2007? Well now that the apartment (and subsequently the closet) is gone I’m finally building a proper home studio. The plan is to make it as comfortable and inspiring as possible, I’m very excited about it. I’m sure that some sort of Live 2006 release will be out this February or March. I have quite a bit of material that was captured during the 2006 dates and I don’t plan on keeping them locked up forever. My brother Matt and his fiancé Dawn will be married this April and they’ve asked me to write and perform a song for the occasion. I’m very flattered as well as intimidated by the task. Work will begin on this song right after the new year, I’m sure it will be longest I’ve ever worked on one single track. The follow-up for Scattered is churning in my mind...it’s at the exciting conception stage where it could possibly be taken anywhere. I’ve been toying with a concept album or possibly a rock-opera, who knows. My plan is to write at least one good song every month throughout 2007. By my counts that should make for a great release in 2008. I’m not very concerned about playing live in ’07. I’m sure a few shows will pop up but nothing extensive.

That’s about it. I’ll be writing, reading a little, drinking some Guinness, traveling, and living life in 2007 and I hope to see a lot of you along the way. Much love and see ya soon!

Cheers,
Andy

PS. Check out the site, I've done a few updates!

11/28/06 - Greenville, SC Show...
One more performance before the end of 2006 rolls around. It's been more than a year since my last musical appearance in South Carolina and I'm ready to give it another go. On Saturday, December 9 I'll be playing an intimate show at O-Cha Tea Bar in Downtown Greenville, SC. The show begins around 8:00 PM. I hope to see a lot of old faces in downtown next Saturday!

11/9/06 - SCATTERED available for download...
The new album Scattered is now available for purchase through SnoCap! To download songs visit the Music page and make your selections. It couldn't be any easier. Online ordering for hard copy discs is on its way as well as distribution through the iTunes Music Store. Enjoy the music.

11/7/06 - Winston-Salem, NC Show / Scattered Review...
The last few weeks have been extremely busy. Between releasing the new album, playing some shows, and moving into the new house that Melissa and I just bought...it's been impossible to catch any downtime. The CD release performance at Smelly Cat Coffeehouse in Charlotte was great break; I've been getting a lot of really great feedback about the new album. I'm still excited for more people to hear it. In efforts to make this possible I'll be playing a show at Foothills Brewing in Winston-Salem, NC tomorrow Wednesday, November 8. The show begins at 9:30 and should last roughly an hour. For those of you who have been around for a while (Remains of the Day years, even Center of Gravity...wow) Foothills Brewing is the sister of everyone's favorite downtown Greenville, SC bar Blue Ridge Brewery. I'm excited to see the new venture and even more so to test the beer and food. So if you're in the area then I hope to see you at the show.

A big thanks to One5end.com for making it out to the Scattered CD release performance on Friday, October 27. You can read a review of the show and the new disc by visiting their webiste here: Andy Loflin Review

10/26/06 - New Album Live / Performance Friday, October 27...
t has been a long time in the making, around fifteen months to be exact, but all the hard work has paid off and produced one of the most exciting and diverse albums I've made in years. When work on the project started back in July of 2005 I had one goal in mind: to make an album with no sonic limits. I wanted to be able to freely create music without the Singer / Songwriter genre limiting the creative process. The result of this open mindset are twelve uniquely different songs all brought together on one disc aptly titled Scattered.

You can sample four tracks from the new album by clicking here. If you like what you hear then contact me at Andy@andyloflin.com and I'll work on getting a copy sent your way. Or better yet...come out to the CD Release Performance tomorrow Friday, October 27 at Smelly Cat Coffeehouse in Charlotte, NC and be the first to get a copy. The show begins at 8:00 PM and will feature all of the new tracks plus a few old favorites. I heard that it is supposed to be a washout all day but we will battle the elements and have a good time nonetheless. I hope to see everyone out at the show.

Online ordering for Scattered will be available by the end of November. The iTunes Music Store should have the disc available for digital purchase by the end of the year. Thanks to everyone involved with getting this disc out in time...you all rock. See ya at the show.

UPDATE: A show has also been added for Saturday, December 9 @ O-Cha Tea Bar in downtown Greenville, SC. I'm excited to be coming home and sharing the new music with my old friends.

9/29/06 - Scattered Track List...
With the new album Scattered finally coming to completion and a release date tentatively set for Friday, October 27, 2006...I thought now might be the time to finally decide what songs will be on the new disc. Here are the tracks:

1. The Berlin Wall
2. Love Comes On
3. At Times Like This
4. New York City Ghosts
5. The Prince of Washington Square
6. Haunting
7. The Story of Us
8. Genesis
9. We Always Do What's Right (But Not Today)
10. The Last and Greatest Betrayal / Pleasure and Pain (Reprise)
11. Catalyst
12. It's All Been Done

I am very excited about the new album and I hope everyone will enjoy it. It's an emotional roller-coaster of songs and I guess in a few years, looking back, I'll begin to understand where it fits into my life. Anyway...Melissa and I are going to the Charlotte Shout Preview Gala Party tonight in Uptown. A cooking festival of sorts featuring our favorite Writer/Cook/TV Personality Anthony Bourdain. Needless to say we're totally excited. Hopefully we'll get to meet Tony; who knows we've been on a roll lately. See ya soon.

9/19/06 - GA Music Hall of Fame Experience...
Melissa with Mike Mills of R.E.M.On Saturday, September 16, Melissa and I drove down to Atlanta GA to attend the Georgia Music Hall of Fame induction ceremony. No, I wasn't getting inducted...I know you were all wondering. It was a monumental occasion; the original lineup of R.E.M. reunited for this one time event. Melissa has been a huge R.E.M. fan for some many years and getting to see the original lineup play publicly for the first time in years was overwhelming for her. Tears folks, tears. Not to mention we got to meet 3/4 of the band! Read all about it in a very special journal entry written by Melissa. Journal

On the "Andy Loflin" music front things have been going well. Another show has been added for Friday, October 27 @ Smelly Cat Coffee house in Charlotte's NODA. I'm excited to be going back, I had such a great time there back in August and I hope to make it another exciting night. The album is coming along well. The finishing touches are making it shine like new. I'm excited for everyone to hear it. That's all for now, keep checking back.

9/14/06 - Busy and Indecisive...
What's going on...well, what isn't going on?! Things are so damn crazy right now, there is so much going on. First off, Melissa and I just bought a house! We are so very excited about it. I can now finally move my studio out of the walk-in closet it has resided in for more than a year now! We close October 30th so I've decided to postpone the small outing I had planned for early November. There is just too much going on in the real world that I must take care of. But don't worry, I will be back to Wilmington and Asheville sometime next year...promise. I will be keeping a few local shows here and there just to stay fresh. Now to the indecisive part.

In my last update I slammed the album I have spent more than a year working on; I think I even called it "ridiculous!" Wow. Well, after writing that wordy update I went back to the tracks and gave them a second listen. It was then that I realized, "This stuff is pretty good...too good to throw away." So yes, call me to most indecisive person ever but I've decided to put some finishing touches on the tracks and release the album as originally planned. The album is titled "Scattered" and will be released late October without much fanfare or even a tour to back it up...just an eleven track CD of new material for my fans and friends to enjoy. Some of the tracks included on the album are: "The Berlin Wall," "New York City Ghosts," "Love Comes On," "The Prince of Washington Square," and "It's All Been Done." I hope you guys will enjoy it...I guess you could call it my experimental album.

So that's what is going on. Melissa and I are attending the Georgia Music Hall of Fame induction ceremony and banquet this weekend in Atlanta, GA. We are both stoked to see the original lineup or R.E.M. reunite for their induction and this one time performance. I never thought we'd get to see the band will Bill Berry back on drums...Melissa said she might cry. If we can sneak a camera in we will try to take some pictures. Cheers!

9/6/06 - Back into the studio...

The summer tour is over! There were a lot of bumps along the way but it really was fun. I traveled to a few new places and met a lot of cool people that I hope to keep in touch with. Thanks to everyone that made this August possible; thanks for coming out to the shows. I plan on playing a few shows here and there starting back in November. Another extensive tour however will not be happening until the mid 2007...maybe.

So, the new album...I've decided to scrap everything and start over...(uncomfortable silence.) I spent a year working on an album that just wasn't me so instead of putting out something like that, I've decided to just start over. The songs were getting out of hand with drum programming and multiple guitars, piano layers and what not. Looking back it was so ridiculous. Being on tour and trying these songs out live really provided clarity and direction for my music. I finally know my next move. The album will be ready...when it's ready. I'm not keeping to any schedule with this one. If you want a preview of what will be on the next album, come out to The Evening Muse for the Find Your Muse Open Mic event every Monday here in Charlotte, NC. The stage will be my testing ground for new material.

The website is growing with leaps and bounds, example: Remains of the Day OMNIBUS. Five years ago this month the band Remains of the Day was formed by Cliff Sutton, Alex Quaranta, and myself...hard to believe it has been five years. It has been an on going effort of mine to archive the events of Remains of the Day and make it available for everyone involved. OMNIBUS will serve as the online connection to this media guided history lesson. The first installment is the entire January 22, 2005 sold out performance at The Handlebar in Greenville, SC. Experience the final concert again for the first time right here.

So that's all for now. I'll be sure to update while I'm recording tracks for the album. Keep checking back.
Cheers,
Andy
Melissa with Mike Mills of R.E.M.

8/31/06 - Asheville NC this Friday, September 1...
The 2006 Coffeehouse Tour is almost over. On Friday, September 1 I'll be playing The Outspoken Cafe in Asheville, NC. The show begins at 7:00 PM and continues until 9:00. A little earlier than usual but that's cool. I'm excited about going back to Asheville for another performance. It has been over two years since I played the now defunct Vincent's Ear with my former band Remains of the Day. We opened for a band called The Films who are now signed to Warner-Brothers. How things change! Anyway, tell everyone you know about the show in Asheville this Friday, September 1.

The Charlotte and Wilmington shows were freaking amazing! So many cool things happened that I don't know where to start. I'm going to work on a journal update this evening and hopefully have it up by tomorrow morning. I have a lot to write about. Keep checking back.

UPDATE: The Journal Entry for this past weekend has been posted. Read it Here!

8/22/06 - Live in Charlotte DVD and CD recording...
Okay...so what is this big news? Well, I've decided to record the Friday, August 25 show at the Smelly Cat Coffeehouse in Charlotte, NC for release later this year on CD and DVD. So do you want to be part of the recording...immortalize your reveling in digital format for future generations to hear? Or how about you just want to have a good time and see some original music? The show begins at 8:00 PM and is totally free so be punctual and spread the word; I'd like to pack the Smelly Cat for this show. See ya there.

8/18/06 - Huge Flagpole Magazine Plug...
A big thanks to Athens, GA based Flagpole Magazine for plugging my performance in Athens on 8/12/06. The large picture and short article was published in the August 9, 2006 edition of the paper. Thanks again everyone at Flagpole!

There have been some major website updates. Check out the newly revamped, and always under construction Archive section. It is much easier to navigate and actually has some substance to it now. Have fun exploring! There is also a big announcement coming up at the beginning of next week so keep checking back for updates. See everyone at the shows this weekend.

8/14/06 - Homecoming / Charlotte and Easley...
No long road trips this weekend as the full traveling Andy show makes it's debut here in my hometown of Charlotte, NC. On Friday, August 18, I'll be playing The Gin Mill on South Tryon. The show begins at 10:00 PM with special guest Michael Costa opening the night. It's bound to be a festive event. The following night we're driving down to for a very special performance at the newly reopened Iron Horse in Easley, SC. My history with the Iron Horse goes way back; I guess you could say that I grew up on this stage...where-ever it happened to be at the time. I hope to see some familiar faces at both shows, see ya there!

8/9/06 - Atlanta and Decatur CANCELLED / Athens still on...
I regretfully have to cancel my performance at Inman Perk in Atlanta as well as the show at Mocha Match in Decatur GA. This is so last second and it really does suck because I was looking forward to both shows. I wish I could say I was sick and unable to perform due to a bronchitis, but the fact is that it's going to take too much money to make the weekend happen. I just can't afford to drive out to Atlanta and perform for free at this moment. My apologies to both Inman Perk and Mocha Match. I hope to make it out to Atlanta soon.

The Athens performance however is still on at Hot Corner Coffee in Athens, GA. This show begins at 9:00 PM. I promise to make up for all the cancellations at this one performance....it will rock!

Yet another performance has been added to the 2006 Coffee House Tour; Sunday, August 27, 2006 at Port City Java (Barlcay) in Wilmington, NC. This will be a matinee performance starting at 2:00 PM and ending at 4:00 and it's free to the public. More details to come.

The first weekend of shows have now past. Raleigh, NC and Danville, VA were both great performances. Thanks to everyone who came out to these shows. We're meeting some really cool people along the way. A new journal entry for the Danville show will be up shortly. After a few open mics next week, we'll be down in GA for performances in Atlanta, Decatur, and Athens. Spread the word.

A new show has been added; Friday, August 25 @ Smelly Cat Coffeehouse in NoDa, Charlotte, NC. Melissa and I had coffee here on Saturday and really enjoyed the place a lot. It's a nice small and classic coffeehouse. Mark it on your calendar. Check out some of the webpage updates below. See ya soon.

8/3/06 - Music: 1996-2005 / 2006 Coffee House Tour...
Sorry it has been so long since my last update, I've been really slack lately...it's sad. There is so much going on right now I don't even know where to start.

Andy Loflin Music: 1996-2005
I regret to announce that the new album's release is being delayed. The plan was to tour in support of the new disc but when I sat down to listen to the final product, I wasn't entirely happy with it. So rather than releasing something I'd be embarrassed of a few years later, I put it on the back-burner to concentrate on the upcoming tour. In lieu of a new studio disc I spent the past month compiling a decades worth of music onto one album titled Music: 1996-2005. I've been wanting to put together a career spanning collection like this for a while and right now seemed perfect timing. The disc will be available at all upcoming concerts and eventually right here at andyloflin.com. For more information about the new collection, visit the Music page

2006 Coffee House Tour
The 2006 Coffee House Tour kicks off tomorrow August 3 in Raleigh, NC at a cool little coffee house called The Third Place. If you have friends in the triangle area call them up and tell them about the show. It's gonna be a blast. I'm really excited about all of the upcoming dates. To keep track with everything that happens on the road, visit the new Journal page. I'll be sure to update it as much as possible.

The Friday, August 4 performance at the Mudhouse in Charlottesville, VA has been canceled due to an unfortunate double booking that left me on the outside looking in. I apologize for anyone that was planning to attending. Hopefully we've gotten all booking issues out of the way, I'm praying for a smooth tour! I guess that's it for now.

5/16/06 - Michael Costa to open Charlotte NC show...

Musician, photographer, and college friend, Michael Costa, will be opening the August 18 show at the Gin Mill here in Charlotte NC for me. I couldn't be more excited, the show is going to be a blast. Costa will go on at 10:00 PM followed by myself at 11:00 PM. Not only will Costa be opening the Charlotte show, we've also planned a photo session for the new album on the morning of Saturday, May 27. His photos are truly unique and I'm interested to see what he has planned for the session. You can check out Costa's online portfolio at www.MichaelCosta.net. Stay tuned, more to come.

5/11/06 - Atlanta, GA show added...
Hello! Just a quick update. Take a look at the itinerary, a show at Inman Perk in Atlanta has been added for Thursday, August 10. I'm really excited about this one. It's going to be lots of fun. On a side note; I'm recording some vocals tomorrow for a song called The Apple. Definitely a new album track. More to come. Also...join the new mailing list and keep up to date with everything.

5/4/06 - Athens, GA / Durham, NC / Johnson City, TN...

Three more dates have been added to the summer tour...it keeps growing like an out of control monster! Check out the updated itinerary below with all the latest additions. I'm not sure how many more dates will be added but I do know that the Johnson City, TN date will be the final night of the tour. More to come!

08/02 - Charlotte, NC - The Evening Muse
08/03 - Raleigh, NC - The Third Place
08/05 - Danville, VA - The Muse
08/11 - Decatur, GA - Mocha Match

4/27/06 - Charlotte NC show has been added...

4/25/06 - Album Update / Virginia Show...

How's it going my friends? As you can see from the picture above, I'm relaxing and having a good time finishing up the new album. This morning I starting recording vocals now that all the music tracks are basically done. A tune called "At Times Like This" was the first on the chopping block. This is my least favorite part of the whole process, all my insecurities seem come out in full blast behind a studio mic. I took a listen to the vocal tracks at lunch and they are actually pretty good. We will see. I should be done with vocal tracking by the end of May and then begin mixing in June. It's all beginning to take shape! More to come.

Booking for the 2006 tour is coming along great! I just added a Virginia date to the itinerary making the tour a four state month long jaunt through the South; North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Virginia. I'd like to add a Tennessee date as well but we'll just have to see how that shakes out. I'm planning on filming one of these shows for a live DVD release sometime down the road. I'm not sure at the moment what performance will be filmed, we'll just have to see.

Hold tight and keep checking back. May is going to be crazy busy with all the recording that I have lined up...not to mention the Darlington and two Charlotte NASCAR races. Oh yeah! See ya at the tracks.

4/11/06 - Raleigh NC Performance Added...
On Thursday, August 3 I'll be playing a show at The Third Place; a small coffee house in the three points area of Raleigh. More details on the performance will be posted soon.

3/13/06 - Gearing up for the Summer of 2006...
That's just what is going on at the moment. The album is wrapping up and I'm busy booking performances throughout the south. Everything kicks off August 1, 2006 with the release of my first full length solo studio album. Following the release will be a small coffee house tour. Quite a few dates are still in the works but some have already been confirmed including my first performance in downtown Wilmington, NC! I'm doing my best to visit as many new towns as possible so keep checking back for updates.

August is still a long ways away. In the meantime, expect a single in June with a healthy selection of non-album B-sides and a promotional video to boot. The album will be available for sale at the shows as well as all the major online music stores including iTunes. It's going to be a fun time! Hope to see everyone at the shows

2/5/06 - A quick update from Charlotte...
The album is coming along pretty well but I've still got a lot of songs that need to be tracked before mixing can start. The light is however beginning to shine at the end of the tunnel. I want to say somewhere around July or August when the new disc will be released, but who knows. We'll see how things shake out. I do however promise a number of live performances around the middle of the year.

The archive will finally be opening soon, within the month. A huge collection of photos and videos from Remains of the Day to Center of Gravity...it will all be there. In the meantime, go vote for Everlasting Earle to win an opening slot for Bon Jovi! Yeah, crazy. All votes must be in before noon on Monday, February 6, 2006. Go vote!

12/30/05 - 2006...
Happy New Years everyone! 2006 is going to be a great year, I'm sure of it. While you're waiting for the new solo album and the first single...check out DJ Alchemy live on 12/9/05 at his website www.djalchemy.net See ya next year!

12/18/05 - Album update 2...
Happy Holidays. Here's a little holiday gift for everyone. A short unmixed sample of a song called "The Berlin Wall" that I've been working up for the upcoming album. It still has a click track at the beginning and scratch vocals but at the same time gives you a good idea of where I'm going with the new material. I went on a piano kick for a few months and "The Berlin Wall" was the first song to come out of it. Enjoy!

"The Berlin Wall" Studio Demo Sample - MP3

On a side note, Melissa and I went to see U2 in uptown Charlotte this past week and it was amazing! These guys really rock in concert, it was a lifelong dream come true for me. I do have to complain about one thing, the opening band Institute was a joke. It's Gavin's (Bush) new band and they would have been okay if they went up there and played their new album but no...they actually played some Bush songs. I believe that to be unethical, if you are going to play Bush songs...call yourself Bush. Don't waste our time with the "I've got a new band" crap if you're going to get up there and play ten year old songs. I loved Bush and still do. Melissa and I got to see them back in the 90s and they were great. Move on Gavin!

Sorry, more to come...the album is shaping up well. I've been working on lyrics for the past few weeks, they all came at once it seems. I've kind of changed the process of song writing for this album. I'll write and arrange the music and then sit on it a while until inspiration hits for words. So far it has worked out very well. The album might be done around March or April 2006, maybe later. Not really sure when I'll stop recording and say..."It's done!" Until then, Merry Christmas.

11/6/05 - Album update...

Hey everyone, it's been a while since my last post...sorry for that. I've been writing and recording for the follow up album to "Hand Written Notes," it's coming along well. For the first time in my life I'm not trying to meet a deadline and that's good. I'm writing and recording when I'm inspired to do so, hopefully it will make for a better album. Most of the songs were written on the piano so expect a slightly different sound. Once the recordings begin to take shape I'll post samples for everyone's review. The new album will be out sometime in 2006.

The Remains of the Day "Omnibus" Box Set is still being worked on...40 discs of everything ever recorded, videotaped, or photographed. Details of the set's release will be posted on www.daysremain.com...it's a huge undertaking pulling all this material together. In other sort of ROTD news; Cliff Sutton and myself got together to write and record some new material a few months ago. The collaboration is still taking shape with a very different sound...keep an eye out. I trust everyone is doing well, hope to see you all very soon.

7/4/05 - Back from the city...
New York was great! Every time I go there I don't want to leave, it's so inspiring to me. Melissa and I did everything you could do in one day in the city. It was Melissa's first time there and she loved it. I got back and right away began writing some new music. I've been writing strictly on the piano lately for some reason. I have two songs that I plan on demoing sometime this weeks; one called "New York City Ghosts" and another called "The Berlin Wall (and other man-made disasters)." Both are piano based songs and it should be fun to see how they demo. Also, if any of you enjoy dance music and going to see DJs then you need to check out DJ Alchemy at www.djaclhemy.net This is my older brother Matt's new DJing adventure, years after pioneering Center of Gravity with me on the drums. The spotlight has always been inside Matt and I'm so excited he's finally following this dream. 6/16/05 - Hello from Winchester...
Hey everyone! We're here overnighting in Winchester, VA on our way to New York. The Shenandoah Valley is really great, very beautiful. I'm hoping this trip will fuel the new album. I love traveling...it makes me want to write. I tend to write a lot of songs about traveling and going to new places. Oh well. I'm listening to the new White Stripes album non-stop right now. It's truly a great album, Jack White blows me away. Everyone needs to get a copy. I'll try to post again later. See ya.

6/13/05 - Thanks for an amazing night...
The show at The AcousticSeen was great. The turn out was way more than I expected. Thanks to everyone who came out and made it a memorable night. I'm working on a show review at this moment, there's so much to talk about. I'll be in New York City this weekend and then back in Charlotte to begin work on my next album. I plan on spending the rest of the year on it so no more live performances for the rest of the year. I'll keep the webpage updated as much as possible during the recording process. Thanks again for everything. I'll post some pics of the show and New York soon. See ya...Andy

5/17/05 - "Hand Written Notes" solo EP
Okay, the new solo EP is now available to download for free on the Music page. Everyone enjoy the new tracks and let me know what you think. I had fun recording the songs and I can't wait to perform the live in Downtown Greenville, SC on Saturday, June 4, 2005 at The AcousticSeen inside The Coffee Underground. This beautiful theater setting will be the perfect venue to play these new songs live for the first time. I can't wait to see everyone at the show...spread the word!

4/11/05 - "Temporarily" on hold.
What's up everyone, all you back in South Carolina. I've been working real hard on my first solo album...maybe a little too hard. It feels like I'm playing catch-up on old and new material. As a result, good songs are getting neglected in the process due to the twenty five plus songs I've been tracking over the past three months. Instead I have decided to cut back on portions and offer up an EP of the best songs recorded during these sessions. No specific name for the disc as of yet but I have decided on the track listing...for now. Things change so frequently with me. Here's the songs so far:

1. Temporary
2. The Cold
3. Levee
4. November
5. Chicago
6. The Meaning Of Life
7. A Bad Dream

It's going to be a great collection of songs. "Chicago" dates back to 1998 while the song "The Meaning of Life" was written just a few months ago. "November" was introduced to ROTD during the recording of "Taking Form" but it didn't make it to the album. The plan is to release this EP, clean the closet, and take a few years to write a full length. Maybe I'm slowing down, funny.

In regards to my last post...rock still is alive. I'm going to see The Killers and Louis XIV at the HOB in Myrtle Beach in a few months quickly there after followed by a short trip to New York City. Lots of fun coming up! New rock is definitely good but yet again I've been exploring older music. I've been listening to a lot or Ziggy era David Bowie. There's a great website called www.5years.com with all the Ziggy info you'd ever want to know...it's great fun. I can't stop listening to Depeche Mode! Songs like "Love In Itself" and "Blasphemous Rumors" are getting stuck in my head all day long. Why did it take me so long to discover them? I also bought the new live Morrissey album, great stuff. If you missed all these guys twenty plus years ago then it is time to give them a listen. That's all for now...see ya next time.

3/16/05 - ROCK is alive!

Rock is back, it's alive and well. I never thought I would say this, I thought it was just a part of growing old...being aliened by the new music. In fact it was just that music had completely sucked all the way up until just recently. It's a musical revolution the likes we haven't seen since the early '90s. I've been waiting, pushing aside the stale preprocessed crap the labels have been attempting to push on us for over ten years now. I hadn't bought an album that dated past 1979 in quite a while, until now. Rock is back! The dirty, gritty, T-Rex, dangerous, Bowie'esk glam rock with all it's sex and appeal I love so much. Two such bands that are headlining this rebirth are The Killers and Louis XIV. Listen to them and you'd swear they were British but not so. The Killers hail from Las Vegas and Louis XIV from San Diego. These American bands hit it big in Europe first and now are beginning to hit in the states. Check them out, I plan on seeing both bands live some time this year.

3/7/05 - The first single "Temporary"

The first single from my upcoming solo album will be available on March 22. A song called "Temporary" that I've been working on for the past few months. The track will be available for sale on the Music page along with a B-side or two. It's been a long time since I've released any solo material. The last tape...yes, tape...was a small demo called Different In Ways that was released in early 1997. The song "More In Me" from the demo became my first song on the radio, Rock 101 at 1:00 AM. What a great time slot. Hopefully I've moved up on the food chain by now. The new album is shaping up well, it's very different. It should be out sometime this year! While your waiting, download the new single and spread it around. I'm planning on doing some Open Mics around Charlotte before booking some real shows later this year. Just having fun at the moment. The site will be growing like crazy over the next few weeks so keep checking back.

2/10/05 - Album Progress.
I've been working on my first solo album in years for about a month now, writing and compiling older songs. It's shaping out to be something really special. A few songs that have already been tracked are; A Small Southern Town, The Other Me, Chicago, and November. Some of these songs date back to the 90s while others are just weeks old. It should be a great CD. More progress will be posted soon.

1/12/05 - The new website and Andy Loflin solo plans.
I hope everyone is doing well. I'm up here in Charlotte, North Carolina right now after moving up on Monday. It's great to finally be in a big city. Just for example, Melissa and I are going to see Dave Attell do some stand up on Friday. The upstate seems so far away right now.

It sucks to have to leave Remains Of The Day, a band I started so many years back. It looks like the final January 22 show in Greenville SC at The Handlebar is going to be huge. I've heard from so many of our fans over the past few weeks after the announcement. It's great to know that we did had some sort of impact on other people's lives, that is what it was always all about. I've had a blast playing with everyone, ROTD Alumni is a large and ever growing group. Support the guys in whatever form the chose to continue in, they do rock.

This page will be dedicated to...well, me! With leaving the rock band scene I've had a chance to look at what I really love about music. I've been trying to get back to where it all began; Me in a studio using the resources I have available to make a new album. Yes, I have begun work on a new album that should be out in April 2005 followed by a short solo acoustic tour that will take the new music all around the South. No dates have been set in stone yet but the tour will begin in Charlotte, NC and end in Greenville, SC...my two home towns.

Keeps checking back for more updates and explore as the site grows. See everyone on January 22 in Greenville.
