In
this full discography
you will find a chronologically ordered list of all releases
by myself as well as those with previous bands such as Remains
of the Day and Center of Gravity.
Always a working progress, some of the early 90's tapes are a little murky
and lack in-depth details. I've pulled together everything I
have in attempts to
make this as accurate as possible. If you have any information to add please
feel free to contact me at Andy@andyloflin.com

It
has been a long time in the making, around fifteen months to
be exact, but all the hard work has paid off and produced one
of the most exciting and diverse albums I've made in years.
When work on the project started back in July of 2005 I had
one goal in mind: to make an album with no sonic limits. I
wanted to be able to freely create music without the Singer
/ Songwriter genre limiting the creative process. The result
of this open mindset are twelve uniquely different songs all
brought together on one disc aptly titled Scattered.

the songs are straight ahead rock. "Taking Form" produced
many popular songs for the band; "Eight Minutes from the
Sun", "Halley", and "Move Me" all received
notable airplay from local radio stations.

a growing pre-Blend Remains of the Day. The crowd is very prominent
in the recording and makes for a true stripped down live experience.

impressive growth from the original demos. The short six song EP
was recorded and released
right as the band was breaking up. Despite some tension, the songs
written and recorded for the album came out well. The EP was actually
cut one song short due to disapproval over the content of some lyrics
from the song "Good-bye." Some of the better songs on
the EP include "Stay" and "Cinderella." The track "I
See Right Through You" also includes my then future wife Melissa
Loflin on violin, a very special recording for me.

SELFTITLED
Center
of Gravity
Released February, 2000 |
This
was the first real album we ever recorded and I'm not sure if we
were ready for all the hard work
that came alone with it. Everyone was tired of recording demos DIY
style, we wanted to be in a real studio and record our first full
length album. To do so we acquired the help of Keith Welchel and
began recording in his Clemson, SC studio in early December of 1998.
We spent almost a year laying down tracks and mixing. Selftitled
was a huge step for the band and songs like "My Idea of Fun," "Lake
View Dr.," and "Piece of Mind" all received notoriety
from local radio stations. Unfortunately, Center of Gravity broke
before the album could be released. It's now faithfully awaiting
its rebirth. |

BLUE
SESSIONS
Center of Gravity
Released 1998 |
Russ
and I scraped together $200 and went into a real studio for the
first time. We had five hours to
do whatever we wanted to do. The result was a five song EP later
dubbed The Blue Sessions. We chose five of favorite songs and played
them live while Glenn Canon of the Music Scene captured the session.
Almost every track was a first take. Vocals were recorded separately
and in only four hours we had a finished EP. "Blue" was
by far the standout track of the session; the song just explodes
when listened to...it's great! |

live on the sidewalk of North Main Street in Downtown Greenville,
SC; Live on Main is old fashion
busking caught on tape. Due to a scheduling mix up at the local Coffee

stop us. We set up outside and played our entire set the old fashion
way. The sound quality is a little rough at times but it is still
pretty fun to listen to.

THE
2nd MOVEMENT
Center
of Gravity
Released 1998 |
The
2nd Movement is just that, the second installment of demos from
Center of Gravity. By now we had begun
writing songs together during rehearsals; they were getting faster
and loader. "What Comes Around" was the first big step
forward for the band. It was a very different type of song with it's
unique rhythm parts and dynamic guitar. "Ebb and Flow" followed
in suite but with much better lyrics. The tape is very aggressive
and powerful even to this day, it still jumps out at me during songs
like "The Song I Wrote on my Fender." |

11. Live Through This
12. The Ends |
Closer
To Free was recorded shortly after I formed Center of Gravity with
long time school friend Russ Chapmen.
It came together very quickly. We played a show at The Iron Horse
in Easley a few weeks before we began recording. The set-list was
virtually identical to the albums line-up; "Past One Yet" was
actually recorded at the live performance and included on the tape.
The first song Russ and I wrote together, "Cool Blues Riff",
opened the tape followed by a couple that would go down in COG history: "Bring
It Down" and "The Ends." For what it was, it was pretty
damn good. |

Andy
Released 1997
1. Misplaced Anger
2. Bide
3. I'll Never Need
4. Think Then Speak
5. Battle for Britain
6. Song for Robbie
|
Upon
returning from NYC, Different In Ways was recorded. The tape continues
where Pulp left off with its
delicate acoustic guitar and melodic vocals. The front cover is a
negative of myself outside the Park Central Hotel in midtown Manhattan.
The songs
reflect the trip to sing at Carnegie Hall, I never really left New
York after that. During the trip I discovered the theatrical pop
of David Bowie's album Hunky Dory and it changed me forever. That
is what I think about when I listen to these songs. |

PULP
Andy

2. I Used To Care
3. Pulp
4. More In Me
5. Can't Believe You
6. You
7. Sea
8. For Now I Sleep
|
Pulp
was the first of two short demos that I tend to group together.
The tape's cover consisted of a black
and white image of Mary, an about-face to the angry The End of the
World tape. The songs were melodic and soft acoustic pieces. Sound
quality was also starting to get much better. This is my personal
favorite of the "early tapes." It starts with the sound
of rain fading into the song "Float Away." With a rough
driving electronic beat, "I Used To Care" adds to the overall
mellow feel of the demo. My first radio airplay
came from this tape; "More In Me" was aired on a local
music show in the upstate SC on Rock 101 at around midnight on a
Sunday. Not a very good time slot but I was excited none the less. |

2. Mix Six

8. Stuck On You
9. Talking Without Speaking
10. I Love The Way You Hate Me
11. The End Of The World |
This
tape was written and recorded in only a few days; directly preceding
The Last Three Years. It's an
angry, electric, distorted demo unlike anything I had ever done.
Listening to it scares me a little sometimes. Some interesting music
was captured. The End of the World is the first tape labeled as Andy.
A little bit of trivia; the insert included with this tape references
an upcomming tape from Center of Gravity.

1. The Last Three Years
2. Stripped Away
3. Horizon
4. Torn Between You
5. Saturday Evening Slums |
The
Last Three Years was a departure
in overall tone from the previous demos. I was putting to rest Deem
and was moving forward. The tape is very dark, depressing, and
honest.
It was
written and
recorded during an emotionally hard time in my teenage life. It also
produced some fairly descent songs.

Diary
was my attempt at a double album, an extended experiment of sorts.
The tape contains my first recordings
on the piano as well as my first experiments with electronic music,
however feeble it may have been. The track "Overpriced" was
recorded with Ken Chastain on drums. "You And Me" was
recorded with my brother, Matt Loflin, on drums. It is a very special
recording
to me. The opening track "Coffee" stands out to me as
the best song on the whole demo. It's a very simple acoustic guitar
and
vocals track. The demo is a collection of recordings from throughout
1996 with a mejority of them being recorded in December of 1996.

this to be my first demo with a real band. Deem had picked up Danny

remember recording this tape. We rigged together two four-tracks
to enable modest premixing of the drums, barrowed a drum set for
Danny to use, threw up a few mics and played everything we knew live.
We were all very proud of the demo once it was done. A few notable
tracks: "This Day" written by Danny Foley was a great one
featuring Danny on acoustic guitar and myself on vocals. The cover
of Nirvana's "Been

was one of the better full band recordings from the tape, I think
I just

harmonies. Deem bro

and was learning to play. During this time we started working on
some demos that eventually ended up on the Patio tape.
This is also around the same time we played our first ever live show
at an open mic event in Clemson. The tape is billed as a single for
a full demo titled "Fraggle Rock." This demo was never completed
and some of the intended songs eventually ended up on Bob.

"Travel Back In Time" was
my first experiment with a four-track recording system. Unfortunately
the songs on the demo were very poorly written. The demo had a mix
of electric and acoustic guitars. One song did however overcome the
mess, "I'm Who I Want To Be." |

Much
like the first demo, "Save Yourself" was recorded in
the same fashion only this time around I had aquired an electric
guitar. The electric guitar really changed me musically. The recording
plays more like a rehearsal tape then an actual demo. It was a
lot of distorted noise with a few melodies tossed around.
A few notable tracks do appear on the tape; "Guitarman" was wrttien
durring a family trip to Edisto Beach. Also a song from this trip
is "Thunderstorm," a song co-written by my brother. |

These
were the very first recordings that I ever made. I was 14 years
old and had just recently acquired
a guitar and started writing songs; something I had wanted to do
for years. I barrowed an old crappy microphone from the middle school
library to make the recording. My parents had this tape deck from
way back when that had two separate inserts for the left and right
channels. The mic was plugged into one channel and my acoustic/electric
in the other; I then just played all the songs I had written to that
point. There weren't too many and they weren't all that good, but
it's fun to listen to it now.
