Closer To Free was recorded shortly after I formed Center of Gravity with long time school friend Russ Chapmen. It came together very quickly. We played a show at The Iron Horse in Easley a few weeks before we began recording. The set-list was virtually identical to the albums line-up; "Past One Yet" was actually recorded at the live performance and included on the tape. The first song Russ and I wrote together, "Cool Blues Riff", opened the tape followed by a couple that would go down in COG history: "Bring It Down" and "The Ends." For what it was, it was pretty damn good.
